Up & Coming: MARMOZETS

When we say ‘Marmozets’ you’ll probably think of those cute little monkeys and then when we say ‘wrong, we mean a girl fronted band’ you’ll probably sigh one of the deepest sighs you can muster up and mumble on about how they’ll probably sound like Paramore blah blah blah.

And again, you’d be wrong.

Born and bred in Bingley, Bradford, the five piece comprise of  Becca Macintyre on vocals, Sam Macintyre on vocals and guitar, Will Bottomley on vocals and bass, Jack Bottomley on guitar and Josh Macintyre on drums.

Listening to the mp3’s that they’ve kindly uploaded to their site, you can’t help but want more and get angry at the ‘COMING SOOOOOOON!’ note posted on Passive Agressive EP page on their web store. It’d be too easy, and wrong as I wrote earlier, to write them off as another Paramore. ‘The Perfect Beverage’ sounds like something that Rolo Tomassi could have spat out musically themselves, but failed to do so, with Flyleaf’s, Lacey, and maybe even VersaEmerge’s Sierra Kusterbeck’s punchy vocals. No bad thing.

Marmozets describe their music as ‘rawkous alternative math energy.’ Whatever the fuck that may mean. I’d personally like to describe their music as one of the best things to erupt out of this year and has me praying to God that the end of the world won’t come to us just yet, as this new girl fronted band has a lot more to give.
