NEW MUSIC: ‘THERE’S MONEY IN THE WALLS’ – LISTENER

Roughly two hours ago (at the time of writing this) one of my favourite bands released a long awaited single off of their upcoming album: ‘There’s Money in the Walls’

Before we go into the track let me give you a bit of a background on Listener. Listener is comprised of Dan Smith (Vocals & Bass), Kris Rochelle (Drums) and Jon Terrey (Riff master previously of The Chariot fame) hailing from Kanas. They are the pioneers of a genre called “Talk Music” the clue is in the name.

Whilst a foray into this genre can be intimidating at first; but if you stick with it, you will be rewarded with some of the most brutally honest song writing out there. See Listeners previous releases from ‘Return to Struggleville’ onwards.

The band returns with the fullest sound I’ve had the pleasure of hearing and lyrically still cutting to the core.

Kris had this to say regarding the song in an interview with Alternative Press HERE.

“‘There’s Money in the Walls’ is about Rudolph Diesel, the guy who invented the Diesel engine,” Rochelle says about the new track. “Dan and I sat on my couch and wrote the bulk of this song a week before we left for a U.S. tour last year. Once we got home to finish it, three months had passed and the idea of how much time Diesel spent away from his family and loved ones for his work really hit home. I think that sort of soaked itself into Dan’s lyrics and we decided we wanted the video to reflect how, in Listener, we always try and take time to make a home for ourselves on the road. The lake house in the video is our friend’s. We stay there with him and cook and have a fire whenever we’re up that way. It just seemed natural to be surrounded by loved ones if we were going to make a video for that song.”

We’ve spoken to Listener regarding an interview to learn more about this album and their upcoming tour, so watch this space.
