“‘Baby’ is about feeling sad and down even though you are generally happy about everything and everyone in your life.” Listen to the new track from BASEMENT REVOLVER below:
“I feel a lot of emotions, sometimes annoyingly so. Baby is about feeling sad and down even though you are generally happy about everything and everyone in your life. It’s about feeling confused about what I want in life, and how that affects other people. It is about crying a lot and feeling like I was burdening my partner with those questions. It is also about my tendency to retreat when things get too overwhelming, to spend all day and night in my bed and watching Netflix and eating Doritos.
‘Baby’ was written at a point in my relationship where I was so happy with my partner and with the things in my life at that point – but I felt an overall dissatisfaction and sadness that I couldn’t explain. I’d be having a really nice date, and I would start crying, and I didn’t know why. Sadness was just there, sitting with me in uncertainty. So I dealt with it by trying to sleep it off, or hanging out on my own. I felt like this depressive state was affecting those around me in a negative way and I felt guilty about that.
So yeah, the chorus on this one pretty much states clearly how I was feeling – “Baby I’m so sorry, I’m trying my best to figure this out, I swear that I’m so happy, this crying won’t fix what’s already broken and dead, just give me some time”.
Hope you can relate, we hope you find some solace in our new track. It will be part of our new album ‘Heavy Eyes’ out this summer via Sonic Unyon (North America) & fear of missing out (UK).
Thanks for listening.”
