Speaking on the video, director Morgan Freed had this to say:
“I started directing music videos [because] I really love the idea of being able to tell a story in 3 minutes and 30 seconds. Music videos (and video in general) are fuckin hard for a lot of reasons. For me at least the most difficult part is I get very attached to the idea of what I wrote or what I’m picturing in my head and usually that gets altered by some label or company or 100 people on an email chain chiming in on some dumb shit and it’s discouraging and sometimes heartbreaking because it changes shit completely from the original idea. This is not one of those videos. This video looks exactly how I pictured it when I wrote it. This video is very special to me for a ton of reasons. The artist, the song, the concept, the crew. I wanna thank @markhoppus @alexgaskarth and @taylorvagrant for trusting me with this. it means a lot to me and made me not wanna quit the stupid entertainment industry to move to the middle of nowhere and never talk to anyone ever again for a brief moment. I hope everyone enjoys this video as much as I enjoyed dreaming it up and am very grateful for the opportunity to have done this with some of my favorite artists of all time.”
